Curriculum visits and enrichment activities 

Residential visit – Burwell House (3 days, 2 nights) – In the Autumn term, we take part in a three day residential at Burwell where we participate in a variety of map reading and environmental activities within the grounds of the house and the village. 

The residential trip will support an important part of the geography environmental curriculum, enabling us to study those aspects that are difficult to cover in the classroom. Whilst at Burwell House, the children will undertake a wide variety of map reading and environmental activities within the three acres of grounds and around the village itself.  It will also support our English curriculum as well as our Science, History. P.E, Design Technology, Art and our Personal, Social and Health Education programme.  The activities are led by the experienced teachers at Burwell House.  We believe that residential courses also provide an invaluable opportunity for the children to develop their independence and social skills through living with their peers away from home. 

Visit to Peterborough Mosque – As part of the RE curriculum, we are learning about a range of faiths one of which includes Islam. To support this, we arrange a trip to the Faizan E Madina Mosque in Peterborough. This is an enriching experience where we have a tour of the mosque, and find out about all the features inside such as domes. We also have the opportunity to ask the Imam questions about the Mosque and the Islamic faith in order to support our learning in the classroom.

Harvest Festival –  All the pupils participate in the service which includes singing, sharing work, reading poems, telling stories and leading prayers. It is truly a celebration of Harvest and the pupils perform with confidence and enthusiasm. We are always grateful for all of the food contributions which are donated we give all of the food to the local food bank.
